INJURIES Bad luck continues to pile up for RSC Anderlecht. The Brussels club may have to do without another key player, as Ludwig Augustinsson suffered a hamstring injury last weekend. The Swedish left back had to leave the field early in the match against AA Gent and is undergoing further examination. A longer absence cannot be ruled out.

For Augustinsson, this is a particularly bitter continuation of his season. He had just returned from a lingering calf injury that kept him sidelined for the entire month of December, when fate struck again. As a precaution, the technical staff intervened quickly, but the initial signs are not very hopeful.

Augustinsson's injury fits into a worrying pattern. Anderlecht has been struggling with an exceptionally high number of injuries this season. Ilay Camara, for example, has become a regular visitor to the medical staff. The winger has suffered three muscle injuries since his arrival from Standard. César Huerta has also been out of action for months after surgery for pubalgia, while Mario Stroeykens, Marco Kana, Killian Sardella, and Enric Llansana have also been regularly sidelined.

All this weighs heavily on coach Besnik Hasi, who is rarely able to field his ideal team. It is striking that the wave of injuries continues despite substantial investments in medical and physical support. Anderlecht recruited specialists from Bayern Munich, among others, and expanded its performance team with the aim of preventing injuries. For the time being, however, the effect of these measures remains limited.
