GAMES Another heavy disappointment for Anderlecht, who failed to get past the league's bottom club. Dender were actually the better side before the interval, with Anderlecht virtually non-existent. After the break, the home side could certainly have taken the lead during a messy phase, but overall they created far too little danger. The red alarm can quietly be raised: with just one point from the last three matches, Anderlecht now travel to Standard and Genk.

Anderlecht produced yet another woeful first half, lacking tempo, movement and showing far too much sloppiness in possession. The Mauves started reasonably, but within four minutes Dender began to play along and quickly became the better and more threatening team. Not that Dender created many chances, but with a clinical finish they could easily have led at half-time. Kana gave the ball away a few times, but Coosemans came out well. In the closing stages both Kvet and Ferraro missed shots from dangerous positions. And Anderlecht? Truly subpar, without a single effort worth noting.

Anderlecht did start the second half better. A chaotic spell around the 52nd minute should have produced the 1-0: Dender lost the ball, yet neither Sikan, Saliba, Bertaccini (cleared off the line) nor Hazard (header against the post) could score. Sikan, who showed a few moments after the interval, was later replaced by Cvetkovic.

The team struggled to maintain tempo and to produce regular chances. Gallon had to make a good save from Saliba's attempt in the 74th minute, but that proved to be Anderlecht's last real opportunity.

Tough away trips to Standard and Genk now await Anderlecht in the league, and they had better pick up points: the club is being chased by a host of rivals. Meanwhile the first meeting with Antwerp in the Croky Cup also looms.
