GAMES In a message on the club's website, Standard's board is urging its supporters to ensure Sunday's match against Anderlecht proceeds smoothly and in a sporting manner. The Rouches also announce they will consult with Anderlecht's board to prevent clashes between supporters' groups. Matches between Anderlecht and Standard have produced many painful moments in recent years. After yet another confrontation in December 2023, visiting fans were even banned for two years.

Only this past October were visiting supporters once again allowed to attend the Clasico. Both clubs are currently going through turbulent sporting times. After the 0-4 defeat to Gent, a number of Standard hooligans forced their way into the dressing room to give the players a dressing-down. Anderlecht's situation is well known. “The board will meet representatives of the supporters on Wednesday and will emphatically stress that any behaviour that could disrupt the match would be unacceptable and indefensible,” Standard says now about Sunday's clash with Anderlecht. “Out of a sense of responsibility and cohesion, Standard's board will also confer with Anderlecht's to guarantee the smooth running of the Clasico and to promote a respectful supporters' culture.” Standard's board calls on its supporters for “responsibility and unity.”
