
OTHER Besnik Hasi (54), who was dismissed as head coach of Anderlecht, said goodbye to the squad today. In the meantime the club has started the search for a successor, but the purple-and-white do not want to rush the decision. After returning from Liège, where Anderlecht lost the Clasico against Standard, Hasi was informed last night that his spell in Brussels was over. He had a calm and respectful conversation with CEO Kenneth Bornauw and sporting director Olivier Renard.
The coach had somewhat expected the decision and showed understanding, while remaining convinced he could still have turned the sporting tide. With a meagre two points from the last 15, however, he was not given that chance. According to the club's management, the intervention came at the right moment, certainly with the important cup tie against Antwerp on Thursday — the Croky Cup semi-final — looming. Hasi will stop by Neerpede today to personally say farewell to his players; they had already left yesterday when the news broke. Bornauw and Renard will then address the squad to further explain the decision.
