OTHER The past few weeks have been particularly turbulent at Anderlecht. The dismissal of Besnik Hasi, the ongoing search for a new head coach, and the increasing pressure on technical director Olivier Renard have caused quite a stir around the club. However, according to right-back Ali Maamar, the players should not let this influence them.

“Those are things we shouldn't concern ourselves with,” he says resolutely. “We are footballers and we have to focus on what happens on the pitch. We have to try to let go of everything that falls outside the sporting context. Our concentration must be entirely on ourselves.”

The fans are also voicing their discontent more and more loudly. Maamar understands their reaction. “This is not an easy period for the supporters, but neither is it for us. Nevertheless, we as a group of players remain 100% motivated. We are well aware that we have a difficult task ahead of us on Thursday against Antwerp. But we will give everything to reach the cup final again.”
