OTHER According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht has shown Chief Technical Officer Olivier Renard the door. Renard arrived in October 2024 at the request of former chairman Vandenhaute. Although he did manage to sell a few players for hefty fees (Simic and Angulo), the incoming transfers have been largely unsuccessful. Of the staff assembled at the start of the season, reportedly only Taravel remains.
Renard had three transfer windows to strengthen Anderlecht, but that clearly did not happen. Of all the arrivals, only Saliba is currently adding real value. Dolberg was sold at the last moment to Ajax, but no genuine replacement was brought in, leaving Anderlecht with a major goalscoring problem. Last summer Renard chose to continue with Hasi, but the Kosovar was shown the door last week after disappointing results.
Lucas Biglia also left the club citing homesickness (at least that is what Biglia himself said), and Edward Still is on his way to Watford. Anderlecht is, at the moment, a mess and will therefore—once again—have to rebuild from scratch.
