OTHER According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Dutchman Marijn Beuker is a new name on the shortlist to become Sporting Director at Anderlecht. Beuker currently works at Ajax as Director of Football, but his influence there appears to have waned since the arrival of Jordi Cruijff. He began his career at AZ and is a strong proponent of data-driven analysis, using numbers and metrics as the basis for transfer decisions. After working in AZ's youth academy he moved at the end of 2021 to Queen's Park FC, where he collaborated with Robin Veldman (ex-RSCA).
Louis van Gaal brought Beuker to Ajax in 2023 to overhaul scouting and the youth academy. Last season Ajax, under Italian coach Farioli, finished just one point behind PSV in the title race after a late surge from PSV and a poor run from the Amsterdammers. Beuker is not without controversy at Ajax, and since Jordi Cruijff became the club's overall sporting head his influence has reportedly been in decline. Recently a coaching change was made at Jong Ajax without Beuker being informed, despite him being responsible for that team.
