How long Nathan De Cat (17) will remain at Anderlecht is uncertain. The midfielder is under contract until 2027 and the club wants to extend his deal, but even then a summer departure is not out of the question. Under interim coach Jérémy Taravel, De Cat has been given more freedom in midfield. Against OH Leuven he stood out with an assist in the 5-1 victory.

In four matches he gave four assists and scored one goal. His performances have not gone unnoticed abroad: top clubs are showing interest. Because De Cat is still a minor, he can only sign a limited extension for now. Only on 19 July, when he turns 18, can he agree a longer-term contract — right in the middle of the transfer window.

An extension would mainly give Anderlecht a stronger negotiating position and make a higher price tag possible. The player feels comfortable at the club, but much will depend on sporting prospects, such as playing in Europe. A sale this summer remains realistic and could have a major impact on Anderlecht's budget for next season.
