OTHER Whether Jérémy Taravel can remain Anderlecht's head coach is above all an administrative matter. The club must appoint a coach with a UEFA Pro licence by 10 April at the latest — a qualification Taravel does not have. After the dismissal of Besnik Hasi and the swift departure of Edward Still the position was officially vacant; licensing rules require a qualified replacement within 60 days. If that deadline is missed Anderlecht risks fines and, in the worst case, jeopardising its European licence.

Taravel has done well. Under his leadership the purple-and-white have remained unbeaten, reached the cup final and taken seven points from nine in the league. The club therefore wants to continue with him. The problem is that no one on the current coaching staff holds the required Pro diploma. Interim coaches may work without it temporarily, but not for more than 60 days.

Anderlecht is investigating whether Taravel can still begin a Pro course abroad. Meanwhile the club is also exploring the option of appointing an additional coach who does hold the qualification. If no solution is found by 10 April, Anderlecht will have to appoint a new head coach to avoid sanctions.
