YOUTH RSC Anderlecht's U13 team put in an impressive performance at the Algarve Cup in southern Portugal. In a highly competitive international tournament, the Brussels-based side advanced to the semifinals, ultimately finishing in third place.

The young talents, from the renowned Neerpede youth academy, were bolstered for this tournament by Coveliers and Rutikanga, two players who normally compete in a higher age category. They got off to a convincing start with comfortable wins against Elite LA (5-1) and ISR (4-0).

In their first real test, however, they narrowly lost to SC Braga. Despite a balanced match, an early goal decided the game in favor of the Portuguese, who then slowed the pace of the match.

The very next day, the Purple & Whites bounced back immediately. A brilliant free-kick goal by captain Tamsamani secured a win over Brighton & Hove Albion. A convincing victory followed against the Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna as well. In the decisive group match, however, SL Benfica proved to be too strong.

Finishing second in the group, Anderlecht advanced to the semifinals. There, they lost narrowly to the New York Red Bulls. In the third-place match, the Brussels side closed out the tournament in style with a prestigious victory over Arsenal FC.
