INTERVIEWS Zeno Debast is available again after a long period of rehabilitation. The defender was sidelined for almost five months with a knee injury, longer than initially expected. “I returned too quickly and suffered a relapse. Mentally that was tough, but I came out of it stronger,” he says.
During his recovery Debast also worked on his physique. He added a few kilos of muscle and now feels stronger than before. With the Belgian national team he has meanwhile spotted a new talent: Nathan De Cat. The two share a past at RSC Anderlecht. “I've known him since he was in primary school. He's incredibly mature for his age. It's great to see how he's showing himself now.” With a wink Debast also compares their qualities: “Who has the best pass? I'd still pick myself.”
On a possible big transfer for De Cat, Debast remains pragmatic. “He should listen to himself and to those around him. For now, focusing on Anderlecht and the national team is more than enough.”
