TRANSFERS RSC Anderlecht is still looking for a new sports director. In that search the name of Paul Mitchell (44) was also considered, but a collaboration now appears unlikely. Executive-search firm Odgers continues to actively seek suitable candidates for the role, and Mitchell was among those suggested. The Englishman is no stranger to Belgian football: between 2020 and 2023 he served as sporting director at AS Monaco while also holding an advisory role at Cercle Brugge.
Earlier he worked within the Red Bull organisation, and after his stint in Monaco and at Cercle he was active at Newcastle United. Despite Anderlecht's interest, contacts so far have been exploratory. Mitchell's circle expresses appreciation for the Brussels club, but a return to Belgium does not seem likely at present. Financially, clubs such as Monaco and Newcastle have considerably greater means than Anderlecht. The purple-and-whites are not imposing a strict deadline in their search for a suitable sports director.
