INTERVIEWS After a twenty-year collaboration, RSC Anderlecht and the Sint-Guido-Instituut are going their separate ways. The school, which gained national attention in 2011 thanks to the TV series The School of Lukaku, is thus ending a long-standing relationship with the club. Romelu Lukaku attended the Sint-Guido-Instituut as a teenager, graduating in the field of Reception and Public Relations.

The Dutch-speaking, multicultural school drew extra attention when a TV crew followed the then 16-year-old Lukaku during his breakthrough. The footage showed not only classroom life but also trips — including to London and Chelsea's stadium — and the series became a ratings hit. According to Anderlecht spokesperson Mathias Declercq, the initiative to end the partnership came from the school itself.

"Education has changed considerably in recent years," he said. "We are grateful to Sint-Guido for the years of collaboration." The school is finding it increasingly difficult to properly support young top athletes within the current education system. Currently 19 youth players are still enrolled there; a transition period will allow them to complete their studies. Younger players will be accommodated at other partner schools affiliated with the club.
