INTERVIEWS In an interview with Voetbal International, Cedric Hatenboer looks back on his transfer and his spell at Anderlecht. The midfielder explains how everything changed for him when Anderlecht replaced both coach and chairman. His future was also discussed.
Whether he can expect another chance at Anderlecht remains unclear; he does not completely rule it out, but his preference lies elsewhere: "Either I go back to Anderlecht, or there will be other interest. Preferably I'd stay in the Netherlands." Hatenboer acknowledges that David Hubert, who was coach when he signed for Anderlecht, had a lot of faith in him. He regrets that Hubert was dismissed — had that not happened, his time at Anderlecht might have looked very different. He rates his loan at Telstar as positive, saying he has developed well and reached a higher level.
The half-year at Anderlecht was not wasted either: he enjoyed his time in Brussels, and the difficult period, he says, made him mentally stronger. In the Eredivisie, Telstar are still fighting to avoid the promotion/relegation playoff spot. They currently sit one place above it, but with the same number of points as the virtual playoff occupant, FC Volendam, that could change. Exciting weeks ahead for Hatenboer, both on and off the pitch.
