INTERVIEWS Storm clouds loom over Anderlecht's leadership after the cup final. Owner Marc Coucke refused to comment. Chairman Michael Verschueren did speak, and in blunt terms. "We deserved to lose."
"But there were ten minutes when something was really possible, and that was after the equaliser. But afterwards... I'm not satisfied."
"This is a disappointment that hits very hard. We thought we could win," Verschueren said. "Now we'll try to finish the season well and qualify for Europe." Verschueren is well aware that Anderlecht will have to rebuild. "We do have talent on the pitch, but when certain players are out, some pieces of the puzzle are missing," he said. "After De Cat went off, you could see the quality on the pitch was insufficient. There's work to be done."
