TRANSFERS Preparation for next season at RSC Anderlecht has quietly begun behind the scenes. Sporting director Antoine Sibierski will present his transfer plans to the board on Thursday, reportedly with a budget of between €15 and €20 million. Even with an improved financial position, Anderlecht is handling its resources cautiously, particularly after a season without European football. The expiring contracts of Yari Verschaeren, Thorgan Hazard and Mats Rits will reduce the wage bill, and additional income from outgoing transfers is anticipated.
On the sporting side, Sibierski is prioritizing a new head coach, an experienced central defender, a creative midfielder and two wide attackers. Names that have resurfaced include Tawanda Maswanhise of Motherwell FC and Marin Soticek of FC Basel. The coaching situation remains a priority. Jérémy Taravel will not become head coach, although the club hopes to keep him as part of the staff. Anderlecht's pre-season preparations start on 22 June.
