INTERVIEWS Romelu Lukaku does not rule out a return to RSC Anderlecht. In an extensive interview the striker said his sons, Romeo and Jordan, often ask him when he will play for the purple-and-white again. "That moment will come one day, out of love for the club and my family," he said. "But it won't be this summer." According to Lukaku, chairman Marc Coucke knows the timing; a return would only be considered after next season.

He wants to model himself on Toby Alderweireld and the impact Alderweireld has had at Royal Antwerp FC. "That's the kind of leadership I also want to show at Anderlecht." Lukaku stressed that young talents need better support, citing players such as Marco Kana and Tristan Degreef. He believes the current squad has too many young players without enough experienced leaders. On Nathan De Cat, Lukaku had clear advice: the youngster should stay at Anderlecht for at least one more season. "First dominate the Belgian league," he said, referring to his own early move to Chelsea FC. He also criticized the direction of youth football, arguing that too many young players try to make big leaps too quickly. "A career is a marathon, not a sprint," he concluded.
