OTHER The 20-year-old Lander Gijsbers has signed a new contract with Anderlecht for one season, with an option for an additional year, the club announced today. The goalkeeper arrived last year from OH Leuven and was due to see his contract expire at the end of this month. Gijsbers was part of the Futures squad this past season. He didn't play, but was on the bench as second goalkeeper fourteen times in 1B.

In early May Gijsbers briefly went to Tubeke to serve as a training partner for Romelu Lukaku while the striker prepared there for the World Cup. Het Nieuwsblad reported at the time that Proto picked Gijsbers to reward him for his good work. Proto therefore clearly believes in the keeper's potential.
