With the appointment of Vitor Bruno as the club's new head coach now in place, he is looking ahead to the future of the purple-and-white with optimism. He also expects the club to unveil several new signings in the coming weeks. According to Verschueren, the search for a new coach was handled much more thoroughly this time than in the past.
Bruno was ultimately chosen because, in the club's view, he fits the desired profile perfectly: young, ambitious and committed to attacking football. The chairman hopes the Portuguese can once again put recognisable Anderlecht football on the pitch. “Coucke deserves support, not attacks” Verschueren also responded to the growing criticism from part of the fan base directed at majority shareholder Marc Coucke. Some supporters have stepped up the pressure with protest actions and banners, even near Coucke's home.
