
INTERVIEWS Théo Leoni looks back on his first season at Reims with a good feeling, despite missing out on promotion to Ligue 1. The midfielder established himself as a regular starter, providing seven assists in the league and adding one assist and two goals in the Coupe de France. The 25-year-old Belgian says the move has brought back his joy for football. At Anderlecht, under coach Besnik Hasi, he felt increasingly sidelined, to the point where his enjoyment of the game also faded.
In Reims, he says, he found his confidence and peace of mind again. Leoni remains under contract with the French club until 2030. Had Reims been promoted, his salary would have gone up, but since the club missed out, that did not happen. Because Reims is known as a selling club, he does not rule out another transfer in the future. His market value is currently estimated at around four million euros.
