TRANSFERS Ali Maamar can count on foreign interest. The 21-year-old Moroccan-Belgian wing-back, who alternated between the bench and the starting line-up last season, is reportedly attracting interest from FC Twente and Olympique Lyon, according to foreign reports. His strong performances for Morocco's youth teams are said to be playing a role in that interest. Both Twente and Lyon are understood to have already made contact with Maamar.
It is not yet known how much Anderlecht would ask for the player. Maamar arrived at Neerpede in January 2025 and remains under contract until mid-2028. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at 2.5 million euros. The chances of Anderlecht cooperating on a transfer appear slim. The Purple and White are currently short of defenders due to injuries and departing players, and see Maamar as a future starter. With two years still left on his contract, there is less urgency to act now.
