TRANSFERS According to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Anderlecht has resumed talks with Union Touarga over a move for Tawfik Bentayeb. The 24-year-old Moroccan striker is no stranger to Antoine Sibierski: last season he scored 18 times for Troyes, Sibierski's former club. Troyes had Bentayeb on loan from Touarga in Morocco. The season before that, he also played in Ligue 2 on loan, then at Rodez, where he found the net 10 times.
At the end of May, Bentayeb made his debut for the Moroccan national team in a friendly against Burundi. He scored in that match, but was not included in the World Cup squad. The imminent departure of Luis Vazquez opens the door for Bentayeb's arrival. Talks had already taken place earlier, with Anderlecht reportedly making a €3 million offer at the time. Now that negotiations have been resumed, that bid could also be reconsidered, Tavolieri says. Standard are also showing interest, but the forward only wants to join a club playing in Europe.
