OTHER The Belgian league is set to begin in a few days, but the schedule is already subject to change. Anderlecht and AA Gent's performances in European competition have already led to the first schedule changes.
The new season kicks off on Friday, August 7, with Club Brugge vs. KV Kortrijk. On Thursday, Anderlecht and Gent qualified for the next qualifying round of the Europa League and Conference League, respectively. Both clubs will play on August 6 and 13, and additional European matches may follow.
The European prospects of Union and STVV could also affect the national schedule. After all, the Pro League takes the European commitments of the Belgian teams into account and may reschedule matches so as not to jeopardize their chances of qualifying.
One change has already been confirmed. The league match between Anderlecht and KV Kortrijk will not be played on Sunday, August 23, but has been moved to Thursday, September 3, at 8:30 p.m. The STVV-Union match, originally scheduled for that same weekend, has also been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
