The French sporting director is known for his uncompromising approach, his eye for detail, and his tremendous work ethic. With these qualities, he aims to lead the Purple & White back to the top of Belgian soccer. In Neerpede, it's gradually becoming clear how the Frenchman operates.
Those who know Sibierski describe him as a reserved person who only places his trust in someone when they truly deserve it. Yet there is one trait that comes up time and again: high standards. He expects complete dedication from players, staff, and himself. In his view, that mindset must form the foundation for a new and more successful Anderlecht.

Continue reading Clear Structure Within the club, responsibilities are now much more clearly defined than in previous years. Chairman Michael Verschueren, CEO Kenneth Bornauw, sporting director Antoine Sibierski, and head coach Vitor Bruno together form the sporting leadership.
Since taking office, Sibierski has been given a particularly extensive range of responsibilities. He not only manages the first team but also oversees the Futures, RSCA Women, and the scouting and performance departments. Bornauw previously described him as a true workaholic who prepares every matter down to the smallest detail.
That thoroughness was also evident during the search for a new coach. After holding several conversations with Vitor Bruno, Sibierski traveled to Lisbon in person to observe the Portuguese coach at work for an entire day. Only after he was convinced of Bruno's vision and approach did he give the green light for the collaboration.
No Half-Measures When Sibierski believes in a player or coach, he is fully committed to his goal. During his time with the French club Troyes, he once drove nearly 900 kilometers to personally convince a player to join his project. The transfer was finalized shortly thereafter.
Even today, he spends hours analyzing video footage of potential signings. He regularly works late into the night to review players multiple times before making a decision. This is followed by consultation with his trusted advisors, and action is taken quickly once everyone is convinced.
At the same time, he is exceptionally strict when it comes to transfers. Talent alone is not enough. A player must also demonstrate the right mindset and genuinely want to commit to the project. If Sibierski has any doubts about this, a player's file is dismissed without hesitation.
Strengthening the Foundation First After his arrival, the Frenchman conducted a thorough analysis of both the first team and the youth academy. Based on that, priorities were set. First, the defense needed to be bolstered, which resulted in the signings of Giulian Biancone and Léo Pétrot. Lukas Ambros and Oliver Antman, among others, followed. The core of the team is expected to be further strengthened in the coming weeks.
Discipline as a Foundation At Troyes, Sibierski earned high praise for restoring structure to the club, which helped pave the way for promotion to the top division. His tenure there ultimately ended after an irreconcilable conflict with club management—a development that also underscores his outspoken nature.
The Frenchman is known for being straightforward. He doesn't beat around the bush and isn't afraid of tough analyses. As a result, he was even nicknamed “Darth Vader” in France. Even within Anderlecht, not everyone had to get used to that direct style of communication.
Calm Behind Closed Doors One of Sibierski's main objectives is to restore stability at Neerpede. He closely monitors the club's day-to-day operations and gets involved in a remarkable number of details.
Even communication is closely monitored. Photos that he deems to lack a positive image are not released. During preseason, only the club's own channels were granted access to the practice matches. External attention is limited as much as possible so that players and staff can focus entirely on the sport. That closed-door approach also explains why the summer transfers were finalized with virtually no leaks. Only a small group of people was involved in the negotiations.
New Direction With Sibierski at the helm, Anderlecht is explicitly opting for a different way of working. Less noise, more discipline, and a clear hierarchy are intended to put the club back on the right track. The Frenchman rarely seeks the spotlight himself, but behind the scenes, he is increasingly shaping the direction of the Purple & White. The coming seasons will show whether this approach can lead Anderlecht back to the top of Belgian soccer.
