TRANSFERS It looks as though Yari Verschaeren is set to follow in Dennis Praet's footsteps. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the midfielder, who is now a free agent after his contract with Anderlecht expired in June, has decided to continue his career at Sampdoria. Sampdoria finished 13th in Serie B last season. At the former Italian powerhouse, Jesper Fredberg has been working as sporting director since July last year.
Together with press officer Mathias Declercq, Sampdoria already brought in another Anderlecht man this summer. Verschaeren had also attracted interest from Antwerp and spoke to the Great Old on several occasions, but has opted for an Italian adventure. Sampdoria is also the club where Dennis Praet spent three years after leaving Anderlecht in 2016.
