INTERVIEWS Danylo Sikan has not had the easiest time since arriving at Anderlecht. The Ukrainian striker joined last winter from Trabzonspor for around four million euros, but a injury and adductor surgery made it difficult for him to leave his mark. This summer, however, Sikan finally seems to be hitting his stride. The 25-year-old striker started in all three European qualifying rounds and found the net in both matches against Hammarby.

“My start at Anderlecht was certainly not what I had hoped for,” Sikan reflected. “After that, I also picked up an annoying injury. Fortunately, that is behind me now. I feel good and I'm satisfied with my current level, although it can still be better.” Against Hammarby, Sikan surprised everyone with a well-placed free kick. Even so, he does not see himself as Anderlecht's new set-piece specialist just yet. “I wouldn't call myself a free-kick specialist. I think it was even my first goal from a free kick as a professional.” He then smiled as he looked toward coach Vítor Bruno. “Maybe I've convinced him to let me take another free kick.”
