INTERVIEWS He seems to have vanished off the face of the earth: in Anderlecht's matches over the past few weeks, there has been no sign of Mario Stroeykens, and apart from a few brief reports, it has also remained deathly quiet on the transfer front. What does the future hold for the 21-year-old midfielder? Vitor Bruno was asked about Stroeykens' situation at his press conference. “When I came to Anderlecht with Porto two years ago, Mario was one of the players we feared most.
‘Wow,' I thought then,” Bruno said. There is now, however, little left to recognise of the Stroeykens of that time. Bruno has noticed that too. “I'm not managing to get the best out of him,” the coach said. “And it frustrates me when I can't get the maximum out of a player.” Even so, Bruno refuses to write Stroeykens off. “I count on all my players. A few weeks ago, I still had a conversation with him.”
