GAMES - INTERVIEWS In the year 2000, Anderlecht played against Manchester United for the last time. The Mauves won at home with 2-1. Tomasz Radzinski scored both goals, the Macunians scored on a penalty. The team that defeated Manchester that evening, had a rendez-vous in the Vanden Stock Stadium.

The following players came into action against Manchester back in 2000: De Wilde, Vanderhaeghe, De Boeck, Staelens, Goor, Koller, Dheedene, Baseggio, Stoica (Oyen, 81'), Radzinski (Aruna, 90') and Crasson.

The players from that team are also giving advice. We have summerised it for you:

  • Baseggio: "The most important thing is not to be too impressed. And Tielemans should try to stay away from the pressure developed by Manchester so he can use his talent to the most."
  • Van Diemen: "Crucial for qualification is preventing a goal from Manchester. A good organisation is the top priority. And especially, do not underestimate your own strength."
  • Staelens: "To keep Ibrahimovic out of the match, a defender should always be close to him. Draw him out of his comfort zone and be aware of his verbal provocations."
  • Stoica: "Stanciu has a lot of talent, but should stop thinking about his transfer price of 10 million euro which makes him the most expensive incoming transfer in Belgium."
  • Antheunis (former coach): "I think Anderlecht have the team to really frustrate this Manchester. I give them 50% chance of qualifying."
