TRANSFERS La Dernière Heure reports that Anderlecht have enquired about Maximilan Middelstädt, a 27-year-old left-back from Herta Berlin. Despite over 130 games in the Bundesliga, he has ended up on the bench this season and will be out of contract in June. That makes him an interesting track.
Middelstädt progressed from youth to Herta's first team in 2014. Once worth €14 million, he has now dropped to €2 million. However, La Dernière Heure also learned that Anderlecht informed too late. Several other clubs preceded them.
Purple White are very keen to add a left-back to the current core. In Brian Riemer's system, the backs are important positions and with Moussa N'Diaye, there is only one real left-back available. And even then, he was brought in with the intention of maturing at the RSCA Futures this season. Given the system Felice Mazzu wanted to play (3-5-2), no replacements for the departing Sergio Gomez and the loaned Bogdan Mykhaylichenko were sought in the summer.
