Raman: "I thought I'd 'open' one"

INTERVIEWS Benito Raman celebrated with the supporters in the visitors' section at Ostend last week. Afterwards, he received a lot of criticism about the pint he was drinking. Yesterday, he playfully put that incident in the spotlight after his opening goal against STVV. 


Raman opened an imaginary can of beer together with masseur Franky De Buyst. "It's no secret that I like a pint now and then, there's no fuss about that either. Of course it was immediately an issue when that came on TV, but I have no problem with that. I am who I am and I am not going to pretend otherwise on TV. Hence the playful celebration. Besides, for once it was nice to experience the atmosphere of an away game with the supporters, from departure to arrival."

Brian Riemer covered the incident with the cloak of love. "I had a good conversation with Benito after Ostend and I do think the message got through. But that's just why we love and then sometimes hate him."
