1B - INTERVIEWS At the end of 2024 Nunzio Engwanda got a few tastes of Anderlecht's first team. Afterwards he faded from view, but with the RSCA Futures he remains a key player. In a conversation with Het Nieuwsblad he comes across as ambitious but patient. "My goal is to make the first team and I am convinced that RSCA Futures is the ideal route to get there." "I'm satisfied with the progress I've already made," says the youngest of the Engwanda brothers.
With the Futures he is one of the pillars. "This season I also got the captain's armband, which is another step forward," he adds. In January he missed a few matches with an ankle injury, but since the start of this month he's back in action. Engwanda is used in several positions: mostly as a central defender, but sometimes as a right-back or defensive midfielder. Which does he prefer? "I feel most comfortable as a central defender," he says. "Personally I also think that's my best position."
