Early goals from Pape N'Dao and Anas Tajaouart quickly put the Futures 2-0 up, and Genk spending most of the match with ten men also played into their hands. With a superb through ball, Tajaouart set N'Dao on his way to the opener within minutes; shortly afterwards Genk's Kim was sent off for a heavy tackle. Tajaouart then made it 2-0, and although Genk grabbed a late consolation goal through Coenen, it proved insufficient.
The win lifts the Futures above Jong Genk and Franc Borains into a shared eleventh place.
