GAMES - OTHER A section of Anderlecht supporters again showed their worst side during the Belgian Cup final. After the match the city of Brussels, owner of the stadium, found that more than 300 seats had been vandalised. There was also an outbreak of arson in one of the stands. "We can understand sporting frustration."
"But nothing, absolutely nothing, can justify people destroying public property," said the city of Brussels. "Seats were vandalised, installations damaged and during the match there was even arson in the Anderlecht stand. This has nothing to do with sport." Last year, too, Anderlecht supporters caused extensive damage during the cup final against Club Brugge. As then, the city will send the bill for the repair costs to the club.
