INTERVIEWS Jérémy Taravel is preparing for his final matches as head coach of RSC Anderlecht, but the Frenchman hopes to remain active within the club after this season. Although it seems unlikely he will be appointed permanent head coach, Taravel made clear he still sees a role for himself at Neerpede. In the run-up to the match against Sint-Truidense VV, the 39-year-old stressed he still feels strongly connected to the purple-and-white. "I would like to remain part of the new project," he said.
"In what capacity, we'll look at later." According to Taravel, conversations with technical director Antoine Sibierski are not, for the moment, about his personal future. "We talk about many things, but not about my position," the interim coach said. "After the season we will evaluate everything. Speculation about a new coach is part of the job. It was like that when I took over and it's the same now." The former defender also emphasised that he consciously stayed on in difficult circumstances. "When many decided to abandon the sinking ship, I stayed," Taravel said. "In a complex situation I tried to do the best job I could." He pointed to the objectives he believes he met. "The club wanted to reach the Champions' Play-offs and play in the cup final. We achieved that. It's just a huge pity we couldn't win that final."
