INTERVIEWS - OTHER Colin Coosemans saw Anderlecht play a game of two halves against Hammarby. After a difficult first half, the Purple & White took control of the match convincingly after the break and secured their qualification.
“The second half was very strong, and that’s exactly what we needed. Before halftime, we didn’t play great. After the break, we came out of the locker room much better and went all out.”
At halftime, Anderlecht could count themselves lucky that the damage was limited. According to Coosemans, the problem lay mainly in their play with and without the ball. “With the ball, we struggled to find the right tempo and were sometimes too rushed. We can’t let anyone rush us.”
That changed after the break. “We regained our rhythm and went full throttle. That ultimately paid off.”
The fact that Hammarby is already well into its league season and Anderlecht is still in preseason didn’t make the task any easier. Still, Coosemans doesn’t want to dwell on that for too long. “It’s not ideal that some teams already have games under their belts. But this is more than just a friendly. Ultimately, what matters most is that we’ve made it through.”
