
OTHER The official announcement did not take long to arrive. After just one year at Anderlecht, Nathan Saliba is leaving for Villarreal FC in Spain. The transfer is believed to be worth around 15 million euros, plus bonuses. Saliba arrived last year from Montreal for about 3 million euros and went on to play 50 matches for Anderlecht, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
One striking detail was that the Canadian also picked up a great many yellow cards, including a second yellow this season in Hammarby. After a strong World Cup with Canada, we did not really see the player of last season again, presumably because of “transferitis.” Coach Bruno even left him in the stands after he was said to have used his phone during the tactical briefing in Kazakhstan last week.
