Anderlecht suffered a particularly bitter blow in the final seconds. Left back Oleg Reabciuk tried to block a shot on goal in stoppage time but unfortunately handled the ball in the process. In the 95th minute, the referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Dion Beljo converted the penalty. It was a massive disappointment for the Purple & White.
Midfielder Thelo Aasgaard struggled to hide his frustration after the match. “This really hurts. This is probably the worst way to lose a game,” the Norwegian said.
According to Aasgaard, however, Anderlecht deserved more. “It's hard to find the right words so soon after the match. We're incredibly disappointed, especially since we were so close to victory ourselves. We were the better team, but we didn't capitalize on our chances.”
Especially in the first half, the Purple & White missed opportunities to make a difference. “In soccer, it's all about the details. We should never have let this match end 0-0,” Aasgaard concluded.
