DAMES Anderlecht's women's team beat Feyenoord 2-1 in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Europa Cup. If Anderlecht can get through this round, one final qualifying round will still follow. Anderlecht took an early lead through Sarah Wijnants, whom the purple-and-white side brought back to Belgium this summer. A quarter of an hour later, the visitors were shown a red card, making the script for Anderlecht look increasingly favourable.
But after the break, 17-year-old goalkeeper Alyssa van de Poel had to concede the equalizer. Anderlecht, however, did not lose heart and eventually managed to secure a narrow advantage for next week's trip to Rotterdam thanks to a goal from Rimante Jonusaite.
