TRANSFERS Mihajlo Cvetkovic currently has just one objective: helping Anderlecht reach the Europa League league phase. The 19-year-old Serbian has been important for the Purple & White with two goals in five European matches and, by his own account, is not thinking about a move away. “I'm staying at Anderlecht,” Cvetkovic made clear at the press conference ahead of the return leg against Kairat Almaty. “Maybe there was interest from other clubs, but I'm not concerned with that.

I'm fully focused on Anderlecht and I'm very happy here.” Cvetkovic believes he has plenty of room to keep developing under Vítor Bruno. “The new coach puts more emphasis on attacking football, and I like that. On top of that, we've added a lot of quality to the squad. I have a good connection with Lukas Ambros, for example. We understand each other better and better.” No room for complacency Anderlecht defend a comfortable 0-3 lead from the first leg in Kazakhstan at Lotto Park.

Even so, Cvetkovic is warning against any sense of complacency. “For us, qualification is anything but secured. We're staying hungry and taking this match very seriously. Sunday's important league game against Union is not on my mind at the moment. First, we want to finish the job here.” Lesson learned Cvetkovic also looks back on his previous season with a clear lesson. Against AA Gent, he was sent off for an arm swing towards Siebe Van der Heyden, which earned him a three-match suspension. “That was a stupid mistake and a typical youthful indiscretion. I learned from it and now know better how to deal with those situations. I want to avoid making mistakes like that in the future.”
