DAMES RSCA Women have been knocked out of Europe after a 3-1 defeat at Feyenoord. Anderlecht had won the first leg 2-1, but that proved insufficient to secure qualification. The fact that Anderlecht had played for a long spell against ten men last week and failed to build a bigger lead over the Rotterdam side proved costly this evening. After just ten minutes, Feyenoord had already turned the tie around, racing into a 2-0 lead.
By half-time, it was 3-1. Minnaert first dragged Anderlecht back to extra time, but after a penalty the gap was once again back to two goals. After the break, Anderlecht threw everything at it in an attempt to force extra time, but they could not find another goal. Last year, the women did reach the Europa Cup, but this time they exit in the first qualifying round. Their league campaign begins this weekend against Genk.
