FLASHBACK Anderlecht won an impressive 8-0 victory against Lokeren on October 28, 2000. Vanderhaeghe opened the scoring just after the start of the match (after 4 minutes), but Tomasz Radzinski was the man of the match with four goals. Striking partner Koller added two more, and Stoica contributed one as well.
Goalkeeper Filip de Wilde was substituted shortly before the end by Zvonko Milojevic.
In the year 2000, Anderlecht was reaching great heights. They had a very compatible striking duo: the fast Radzinski and the towering Koller. The defense, on the other hand, was a solid block of experience and class, with players like De Wilde (goalkeeper), Staelens (who had transferred from Brugge), Crasson, Dheedene, and De Boeck. In midfield, the metronome Baseggio was joined by Vanderhaeghe as the ball-winning midfielder. Creatives Goor and Stoica provided threats from the flanks.
That season, the Mauves would send many top teams home in the Champions League. They qualified for the next round as group winners but narrowly missed out on the quarterfinals due to an avoidable slip-up in Leeds.
