It was undoubtedly a disappointing year for transfers for Anderlecht. In comparison to the quality signings of 2006 when Biglia, Tchité and Hassan were brought into the squad, 6 out of 10 2007 signings have now moved on elsewhere.

In the signings of 2007, only right back Marcin Wasilewski proved a decent buy. The Polish player proved to be a goal-scorer, but unfortunately an accumulator of yellow cards.Felipe and Oladapo Olufemi failed to make an impression in Parc Astrid and were sent of to Portuguese sides Nacional and Boavista Porto respectively.Walter Baseggio and Max von Schlebrugge came with experience, but were consigned to mostly bench warming during 2007.

Baseggio looks to be on the way out this January 2008, following von Schlebrugge's example, the central defender moving to Danish side Brondby IF.

During the summer, 5 more players were brought in, one of them a youth goalkeeper, Sébastien Bruzzese. Out of the 4 senior signings, again only 1 would be a team regular. Anderlecht chased Jan Polak's signature for 3.5 million euro. He would prove to be a moderate success for the club but Sporting's 2.9 million acquisition of Cyril Théréau proved to be the year's biggest disappointment to club and fans alike. The French striker was never the first option for Anderlecht, who was courting former Germinal forward Sterchele. Despite injuries with the other forwards, Théréau never cemented a regular XI spot due to a disappointing strike rate.

Triguinho traveled from Brazil simply to warm the bench for six months whilst reserve goalkeeper Davy Schollen was unheard of. Théréau is now loaned in Charleroi whilst Triguinho is back in Brazil, not even tasting a single minute of action in the Mauves' jersey.

So 10 in, 6 out, unable to make an impression. 2008 can only get better.
