OTHER Dutchman Robbie Rensenbrink passed away Saturday evening at the age of 72. The former soccer player lost his years of struggle against the muscle disease PSMA. Rensenbrink was a star in the seventies at Anderlecht and the Dutch national team. He is considered the best foreigner who ever played on our soccer fields.

Rensenbrink landed in Belgium at the age of 22 in 1969. Club Brugge took him away from DWS. After two successful years in Bruges, Constant Vanden Stock brought him to Anderlecht. There he would grow into "The Serpent Man."

In nine years Rensenbrink scored 143 times in 260 games for Anderlecht. He won four national titles and two European cups. He scored twice in both finals. In his Anderlecht period, he also became vice-world champion twice with the Dutch national team.

At the age of 32, Rensenbrink left Anderlecht for an American adventure. His stay at Portland Timbers was short and he moved to Toulouse. An injury ended his professional career there.
