Tajaouart and Maamar choose Morocco

OTHER Anderlecht youngsters Anas Tajaouart (photo) and Ali Maamar have both turned down selection for the Belgian youth teams and are opting for the Moroccan U20s. So reports the Moroccan website DM Sport.


Tajaouart and Maamar both play for Anderlecht's U18 squad. Maamar made it to the RSCA Futures selection three times in December and he was also allowed to fill in three times then. Tajaouart made it to the selection of the Futures at the end of February. In early March, he played half an hour against Club NXT.

Tajaouart, a central midfielder who has played for Anderlecht since he was eight years old, signed a three-year professional contract last May. Maamar is a controlling midfielder who transferred from KV Mechelen in 2019.
