BAS rules on replay on Wednesday

OTHER Only on Wednesday will we know if the match between Charleroi and KV Mechelen will be replayed. The BAS examined the file yesterday and listened to the lawyers of Charleroi and KV Mechelen.


The BAS is now considering the case and will issue a ruling on Wednesday, April 12.

The match in question was stopped in November following misconduct by Charleroi supporters. That happened in the 67th minute and at a 0-1 lead for KV Mechelen. However, according to the Disciplinary Council of Professional Football, the referee had not followed the correct procedure. Instead of a logical 0-5 forfeit defeat for Charleroi, the council ruled that the game must be replayed in full. 

Both the Federal Parquet and Mechelen appealed that decision. The BAS must now render a final verdict.

If the BAS rules that the game must indeed be replayed, it will happen on Wednesday, April 19. That is between the penultimate and final matchday of the regular competition.
