TRANSFERS According to Het Nieuwsblad, Diawara, Ashimeru and Arnstad would be allowed to leave with a good offer. Last Friday, this trio formed the midfield during the weak performance at Union. Anderlecht wants to reinvigorate the midfield.


It seems unlikely to us that they would have come to this conclusion only after Union. This is proven by the various rumors of midfielders in which Purple-White showed interest in recent months (Hezze for example). The midfield has been a pain point for the team for several years. The arrival of Justin Lonwijk is not going to solve the problems either, and on top of that, the Dutchman is still conditionally behind. Verschaeren will be out for at least another six months.

Selling all three right away may seem a bit drastic. Ashimeru can indeed perform, but higher up the field. His problem is regularity and his passing is sometimes very poor. Arnstad, in turn, is more useful when he is a little lower on the field, as his attacking impetus is often non-existent. Diawara could not yet live up to expectations. The question is also who could be interested in these players after a historically bad season with Anderlecht.

Midfield reinforcements are needed anyway, preferably in several positions. With the current midfield (including benchwarmers) it will be very difficult to reach Play-Off I.
