Official: Butera to Ajax

TRANSFERS Promising defender Ethan Butera is swapping Anderlecht for Ajax. The 17-year-old will join Jong Ajax there. Butera was one of the promising players who could possibly have grabbed his chance in the first team. However, he did not want to extend his contract, which expires in June 2024, which is why Anderlecht is now forced to sell him.


Butera played with the Futures last year and was taken on an internship during the winter. There, however, he suffered a serious knee injury during a practice match. Anderlecht wanted to continue with Butera and offered him a contract extension which was refused. Wonder if he can follow in the footsteps of Vertonghen and Alderweireld at Ajax.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht will receive €1.5 million plus bonuses.
