OTHER Jesper Fredberg signed a new contract with Anderlecht yesterday. The Danish CEO Sports, who had a contract until the end of this season, has now signed an open-ended contract. "I am very happy that we can continue our work. There are a lot of challenges ahead of us," Fredberg said.

Fredberg joined Anderlecht in November 2022. Initially he was supposed to assist and relieve Peter Verbeke, but it soon became clear that there was no place for Verbeke, who was out for several months at the time due to medical reasons.

"Jesper installed a clear soccer philosophy, brought Brian Riemer on board as head coach of the first team and, especially in the last transfer period, rebuilt the team with no less than twelve new players," Anderlecht describes Fredberg's merits of the past year.

Fredberg: "Feel at home here since day one".

The past few weeks it already became known that Anderlecht wanted to continue with Fredberg. So that love is mutual. "I am very happy that, together with the whole team, we can continue the work. I have felt at home here since day one and I enjoy the unique culture that comes with Anderlecht immensely. I would like to thank all my colleagues, members of management and the president for the smooth cooperation and trust, as well as the fans for their unwavering support."

"There are a lot of challenges ahead of us. We are obviously very ambitious when it comes to our first team, and we will also continue to invest in the further development of our Academy, infrastructure, RSCA Futures and our RSCA Women. It is crucial for us as a club to continue to develop that performance culture and create an environment where players, staff and all other colleagues can continue to grow."

Vandenhaute: "Jesper has burning ambition"

"When I got into conversation with the then unknown Jesper Fredberg a year ago, I was immediately struck by how hard he believed in Anderlecht's potential," president Wouter Vandenhaute interpreted the choice to continue with Fredberg. "In the many conversations afterwards, Jesper convinced me that he could be the man to take us back to the top. In the crisis situation of last season, he showed his qualities and his burning ambition."

"After the successful summer Mercato, the conclusion was clear that Jesper sees his future in the coming years in Brussels. This contract extension is therefore the logical consequence. Meanwhile, the cooperation between Jesper Fredberg, Kenneth Bornauw (CEO Non Sports) and the rest of the team is so solid that I am convinced that Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht will come back stronger than ever."
