YOUTH Barely a year after joining Anderlecht, Mikkel Hemmersam (pictured) is already closing the Neerpede door behind him. The Dane is resigning because he wants to join a first team elsewhere. With Tim Borguet, currently head of marketing, Anderlecht already has a successor ready.

‘I have decided to resign from Anderlecht because I want to pursue my ambitions to become sporting director or be involved with a first team in another way,' Hemmersam revealed on the club website. ‘It was by no means an easy decision, but I want to continue pursuing my dreams.'

‘In the past year, we have installed a management team with the competences to lead a modern Academy and a culture characterised by positivism and an open mentality. I am proud that we have achieved many of our goals, including our most talented players signing their first professional contracts. I am confident that the Academy is ready for the future and that fans will be able to admire a range of talented new players in the coming years.'

Borguet: ‘Striving for even more flow'

Hemmersam will remain at Anderlecht until the end of November. On 1 December, Tim Borguet will take over the torch. The 35-year-old Borguet has been at the club as director of marketing since 2020. ‘In that role, he was at the wheel of the club's commercial revival. Borguet transformed the club into a strong media brand with an identity that appeals to and connects more and more supporters with what Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht stands for,' he reads.

Borguet will take strategic charge of the youth academy. The sporting management - including Football Director Henk Mariman and Talent Director Peter Verbeke - will remain intact.

‘Our youth academy is the heart and sporting distinctiveness of this club. Neerpede is the best environment for Belgian top talent, on and off the pitch. We want to strengthen this unique position and thus strive for even more continuity in the flow and impact of home-grown talent,' Borguet concludes.
