Vroninks second youngster to make his debut

OTHER Second official match of the season, a second youngster to make his debut. After Anas Tajaouart on Thursday, it was Basile Vroninks's turn yesterday (photo). The 18-year-old right-back came on as a halftime substitute for Ali Maamar.


Vroninks was immediately confronted with the hard facts when, after a few minutes, he was ruthlessly cleared of the ball, allowing Westerlo to equalize. The Antwerp native showed some impressive performances afterward, but he clearly still needs to get his bearings.

Vroninks was born in Antwerp, but started playing football at Wolvertem-Merchtem. In 2012, at the age of 5, he moved to Anderlecht. He will celebrate his 19th birthday in November. Last summer he signed a professional contract until 2027. Last season he played 25 matches for the Futures, in which he provided three assists.
